Through several partnerships with local communities, we strive to foster a community spirit, achieve sustainable development and promote economic growth and well-being. We do this by employing local people, providing training opportunities, using local suppliers and supporting local charities wherever possible. Working with our local partners, we identify the unique needs of each community and the best ways we can provide support that will have the greatest positive, meaningful and lasting impact.
Throughout the years, Keller Canada has supported a number of local and national charities that help to create vibrant communities in the areas in which we operate. The primary focus has been on areas of health, youth and education. An example of some of these charities are as follows:
Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer
Local sports teams
Local food banks
Local educational initiatives
Strong supporters of Local and First Nations involvement
Keller Canada maintains a strong preference to use local and/or First Nations capacities and capabilities. When possible we maintain a “local first” mentality - then regional, provincial, national and international - based on that priority, consistent with the philosophies of the local projects we participate in.
Depending upon the scope of work awarded, we identify positions, suppliers and subcontracts required and seek alignment with those qualified people, suppliers or subcontractors from the local communities or First Nations communities, either directly through Keller Canada or through local training organizations or Union or Non-Union labour affiliates.
Active participants in the Geotechnical community
Keller companies take a leadership role within their industry by providing employees, customers, suppliers and potential employees with opportunities to develop, learn and share through technical papers, presentations, seminars, conferences, field trips, lunch n' learns and site visits. Staff from companies throughout Keller maintain close contact with industry associations and partner universities in order to share best practices and provide examples of their leading-edge engineering capabilities and innovations we bring to the marketplace.
Many of the Keller Group's senior managers play key roles in the geotechnical construction industry’s professional associations and activities around the world, getting involved in presenting at conferences, writing building codes, specifications, guidelines, and industry-wide safety standards and initiatives.
